Two things can be true at once. Cottage cheese can be one of the more overused ingredients ever. And it can be a delicious, versatile ingredient.

I firmly believe both.

I’ve loved cottage cheese since the early 2000’s when those little containers with puréed fruit were all the rage. Those were so good!

In my opinion, cottage cheese truly deserves all the type it gets. It’s so versatile – you can easily make it savory or sweet.

You can blend it, make it into pizza crust, add it to smoothies, or eat it on its own. It’s full of protein, as we all know, but also has plenty of calcium to support bone health.

And it’s so good! It’s a slightly salty vehicle for anything.

In addition to the cottage cheese, walnuts add more protein and also heart-healthy fats, making this dip super satisfying.

I absolutely love it with graham crackers or whatever fruit is in season. In the summer, dipping strawberries is amazing. And in the fall, using apple slices as your dippers is chef’s kiss.

How To Make Chocolate Walnut Cottage Cheese Dip

Prep ingredients

You’ll need cottage cheese, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, chocolate chips, walnuts, and salt.

Add ingredients to food processor

Add the cottage cheese, cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and salt to a food processor or powerful blender.

Blend

Blend until smooth.

Add chocolate and walnuts

Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips, reserving some for the top of the dip.

Fold in

Fold the chocolate and walnuts into the dip.

  • Mix ins: While this is a walnut dip, there are so many other mix ins you can add. Try chocolate chunks, crushed peanuts, or coconut flakes.
  • Storage: Store this dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
