Caesar Salad Pizza

If you like pizza, cheese, and Caesar salad, there aren’t even words for how much you’re going to love this Caesar Salad Pizza.

Have you tried salad on pizza before?

I frequently eat salad with pizza, but I mean salad on pizza.

Before you knock it or rule it out, trust me, it’s weirdly good!

This version skips the red sauce, so it’s almost like a cheesy Caesar salad flatbread. You’ve got warm, soft pizza crust, delicious melted cheese, and the most flavorful Caesar salad with homemade dressing on top. Plus tons of parmesan, of course.

I used a pre-made dough here – it saves a ton of time. If you want to experiment with making your own dough, power to ya! But if not, you can find pre-made dough at most grocery stores in the freezer section.

I also made mine into a square pizza. Maybe it’s the Detroit in me, but I love a good square pizza. Tbh, I also find square pizza much easier to shape. But round would be great too – any shape pizza is good pizza!

One of my favorite things about this recipe though is the dressing. I rarely make my own dressing, but wow, salads just seem that much tastier when you do. The dressing is packed with things like olive oil, garlic, lemon, Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce. It’s insanely flavorful.

This salad goes for anything: Serve it up for guests as an appetizer. Share it with someone as its own meal. The recipe makes a little more salad than you may want on the pizza, so you can always have some extra salad on the side or save some for later too.

Prepare the pizza

Preheat the oven to 450 F. On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough until it’s even and thin. Using your hands, you can pinch the ends to make the crusts a little thicker.

Once the dough is ready, place parchment paper on a large baking sheet and drizzle it with olive oil. Bake the pizza dough for about 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, remove the dough from the oven. Top it with shredded mozzarella cheese. Don’t forget to leave the crusts without cheese! Slice fresh mozzarella into thin slices and place on top of the pizza.

Bake until golden

In a bowl, mix olive oil and garlic. Brush the crusts with the olive oil mixture. Turn the oven to 500 F. Place pizza back in the oven for 10 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and starts to become golden.

Prepare the dressing and salad

While the pizza is in the oven, it’s time to assemble the salad and Caesar dressing.

To prepare the dressing, get a food processor or blender. Combine olive oil, lemon, grated parmesan cheese, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and minced garlic. Blend until smooth and set aside.

Wash and chop romaine. Toss romaine lettuce with dressing.

Top the pizza

Once the pizza is done cooking and has cooled slightly, add Caesar salad on top of the pizza.

Sprinkle shaved parmesan cheese and black pepper on top to serve.

Notes

  • Storage: Store pizza, salad and dressing separately. When ready to eat, broil the pizza for a few minutes to warm. Toss the salad with the dressing and place on top of the pizza.
  • Dressing: If you don’t want to make your own dressing – or just want a time shortcut (I’ll never fault that!) – my absolute favorite Caesar dressing is Brianna’s Asiago Caesar.
  • Optional add ons: This recipe actually has a decent amount of protein from all the cheese! But, if you want to add a bit more, try adding grilled chicken for a grilled chicken Caesar salad pizza.
