Honey Orange Juice Glazed Salmon featuring Florida Orange Juice

This blog post is sponsored by Florida Orange Juice. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This Honey Orange Juice Glazed Salmon is not only delicious, it’s also nutritious and family friendly too. Truly the perfect way to serve salmon to just about anyone.

My daughter is 1 year old and already has very strong opinions. Among them are her two, hands down, favorites: salmon and the juice from oranges.

So, when I tell you she couldn’t get enough of this salmon dish, know that I’m not exaggerating.

And, for good reason, too. This dish takes all the deliciousness of perfectly seared salmon, and then pairs with naturally sweet Florida Orange Juice and savory soy sauce. It may sound strange, but it’s a perfect way to flavor salmon differently and sweeten naturally without added sugar.

I also love that it introduces my daughter to new flavors together, too. Instead of her usual boiled salmon, this dish showed her salmon with a delicious sweet and savory sauce. As a dietitian, I find it so fun – and also important – to introduce different flavors and combinations at this age!

Plus, this dish offers a host of nutrients too. The Florida Orange Juice provides so many nutrients; an 8-ounce serving of 100% orange juice is an excellent source of vitamin C, a good source of vitamin D (in fortified juices), and provides other nutrients, like potassium and folate. These nutrients are not only important, but also can help support our immune systems too – so important in the winter!

Vitamin C supports the immune system by protecting cells and promoting the production of immune cells. Vitamin D, found in fortified juices like Florida Orange Juice, may also help support the immune system. And, the potassium in orange juice, an electrolyte, can also help with hydration and fluid balance. All key things, especially as the weather gets colder!

I’m all about meals that are delicious and have nutritional benefits, too, and this one totally checks both of those boxes.  Plus, enjoying a meal with my daughter is a major perk for me too. When I’m with her, I try to be totally present and away from my phone or any distractions, and meals together are an easy way to do just that. This one is so delicious too, it’s like our own little sweet escape from the cold outside.

Sear Salmon

Searing the salmon is crucial to get that delicious and crispy golden brown top. Once you place the salmon down, don’t touch it or move it around! Let it sear, untouched, for a few minutes.

Pour the Florida Orange Juice sauce

It will seem like a lot of sauce at first, but it thickens and reduces. Make sure to keep stirring as the sauce reduces so that it doesn’t burn or clump. You can also use a spoon to continuously add sauce to the tops of the salmon to really let it seep in.

Serving

Serve Honey Orange Juice Glazed Salmon with any side of your choice. For the winter, I love it with roasted veggies, like cauliflower and sweet potato. You can also add a refreshing glass of Florida Orange Juice on the side, too, to get even more deliciousness and vitamin C!

Prep Time 5 minutes

Total Time 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Florida Orange Juice
  • ½ cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 12 oz. salmon I used 2 6-oz. fillets
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Optional garnish: Florida Orange slices when in season, October through May, chives, sesame seeds

Instructions

  • In a bowl, whisk together Florida Orange Juice, honey, soy sauce and garlic until well combined. Set aside.
  • Add olive oil to a large pan over medium high heat. Season salmon with salt and pepper.
  • Once the oil is hot, add salmon skin side up and sear for about 3 minutes, until golden.
  • Flip salmon and pour Florida Orange Juice mixture over the salmon. Turn the heat down to medium and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes, until it thickens. Stir occasionally so the sauce doesn’t burn, using a spoon to add more to the tops of the salmon.
  • Remove from heat. Garnish with Florida Orange slices when they are in season, typically from October through May, as well as chives and sesame seeds, then serve.
