10 Minute Garlicky Sautéed Broccoli
By Sammi Brondo — July 25, 2024
An easy and flavorful veggie side dish is a staple recipe that everyone should have. And this one does not disappoint.
This recipe was inspired by a side dish I was constantly ordering from a restaurant near me.
The broccoli comes out super soft, filled with garlic flavor, and really absorbs the texture and flavor of the oil.
And, like any 30-something with an epiphany, I finally realized that instead of spending way too much money ordering this dish through Seamless, I could try to make it myself.
So this 10 Minute Garlicky Sautéed Broccoli was born. And, if I do say so myself, it’s just as delicious as that version I was ordering.
The recipe relies on a lot of olive oil. It really makes the broccoli soft and moist (sorry!), without drying it out.
Fun fact: fats – like olive oil – actually help to better absorb many of the fat soluble nutrients in the broccoli. Just some nutrition science for ya 🙂
This side dish is perfect to make ahead or meal prep with any meal. Pair it with a bowl of pasta, or try it with Butternut Squash Mac & Cheese, Miso Glazed Salmon or Spicy Peanut Noodles.
Chop the broccoli
Finely chop the broccoli florets. You should have about 2 cups chopped.
Cook the broccoli
In a large pan, add 1/4 cup olive oil over medium high heat. When the oil is warm, add the minced garlic and broccoli.
Stir broccoli until all of the pieces are mixed with oil. Add garlic powder, salt and pepper and stir to combine.
Add the additional 2 tablespoons of olive oil and stir. Cook, stirring occasionally, for a few more minutes, until the broccoli is bright in color and soft.
Notes
- Garlic: I love a good kitchen hack but, if you have the time, I highly recommend using fresh garlic vs. pre-minced garlic in this recipe. Because the garlic flavor is so pronounced and key to the recipe, it makes a difference!
- Chopping: Chop the broccoli into small pieces – it’ll help it to cook faster. You can also chop the stem and sauté it too.
- Storage: Store broccoli in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days.
